    Default Shock Absorber Identification Confusion

I have often seen shock absorbers or suspension kits advertised secondhand for the Vectra, but I have been looking at a new setup, possibly something along the lines of a Bilstein B12 pro kit, but there appears to be a couple of different sets depending on chassis number, changing around September 2004.

Not that this is a problem as I have my chassis number, but is there actually a difference? If buying secondhand how would you know?

I have read elsewhere that the chassis was revised for facelift models which improved them, is this part of the revision? Spring/Damper rates etc and if it is that would mean mine is that bit of an oddball that I think it is having a chassis number that puts it on the later setup. Confused and interested at the same time.

Any info greatly appreciated, I'm sure there is one or more of our number that will have the answers.

there is a difference in the front shock.
something to do with the brake line mounting, or ABS cable mounting, along those lines.

stick with new, anyone who has paid for a new B12 kit has thrashed the living daylights out of it!

Any minor changes to spring or damper rates would only apply to OEM parts - aftermarket manufacturers such as Bilstein use different states of tune anyway, so the changeover date would be irrelevant.

Absolutely bang on @bonehead Decided to investigate today and the early pre chassis number 48999999 (left) has a different mounting for the ABS wiring from the later post chassis number 51000001 (right). I think the earlier one has a separate mounting bracket that bolts on to the bottom of the bracket.
