    Default Steering and tech 2

Is there an option to get the steering rack lock 2 lock reduced by applying more motor turn in-relation to my input with the steering wheel?

I know models with the sports button might already have this but can us non button owners get a quicker rack. V/X have yet to get this right IMO

    Cheers

Are you looking for a quicker turn or a sportier feel?

If I remember rightly the steering is still attached to the rack as manufacturers haven't quite got their collective heads around the legal implications of having a drive by wire steering ie if dies and you are driving what happens and who is fault is it? So you are limited by what you want to do

To quicken the steering you'll need a different rack which operates the wheels more per turn on the steering. Downside is that it becomes harder to turn the wheel when parking and/or loads the power steering more and therefore it is more likely to give up sooner then expected.

If you are after a "sportier feel" to the steering then this might be achieved by reducing the amount of assistance it gives when you turn the wheel. I very much suspect that this will be a Tech2 operation if it is available. I know when I had a Mk4 Ibiza, you could change the amount of assitance the steering got by using the equivalent of Tech2, but have know idea if Tech2 will do it.

    Does this help?

in a word NO... the steering is still manual geared but with electro hydraulic assistance, the only way to make the turn in any quicker is to change the manual gears on the rack, and as of yet i don't know of anyone who offers a quickrack for the vectra C..

I thought part of the action of the sport button was to give a faster turn in? or does it mean the suspension change makes it feel sharper but steering is the same?

if i understand it right, all it can do is affect the handling, as it can't swap gear ratios for you ....it MAY affect the amount of assistance you get but that would be about it.

Thats what I was hoping I could get but also I feel that I have to turn the wheel to much for the amount the wheels turn. See what you mean about the manual part as yes it would be a large safety issue otherwise. On a positive note it has the turning circle of a black cab
