Any hands make light work?

Thanks Teapot. The REC could explain why the lights should come on when I was nowhere near the car.
I can start looking at it again now the rain has finally stopped.

Thanks for your help everyone. The only thing now, can anyone tell me how to access the brake light switch please?
If it's not that then it's either the REC or a nervous breakdown

Sorted the access, found the "hidden" screw in the panel to be removed.
Disconnected the brake light switch still the brake lights are on. With all else eliminated it looks like the REC is faulty.
