    Default Dab radio

Looking for somebody that knows about dab radios and connection types.

ive got a dab radio for my caravan and my new tv aerial also gets radio and dab.
i had to by a splitter to split the signal from the normal radio and dab signals.
but I’m getting no dab stations but I can get them in my car parked next to my caravan.
is there different types of splitter could I have bought the wrong one ? I paid £4 for this splitter from eBay it’s thin wire could it just be cheap rubbish?

Have you tried connecting direct to the aerial and not using the splitter?

There’s no possible way to connect to Airel direct short of chopping the cable and changing the end

Just so I can get my head round this, you have one aerial on caravan that you're trying to split DAB and TV from?

When you say you can get DAB on the TV, do you mean the radio stations over freeview?

If so I'm thinking the caravan aerial isn't DAB compatible - i.e. not capable of receiving DAB signals - it's normally a dedicated aerial for that tuned to the correct wavelength spectrum.

the caravan has a stutus 570 Airel and matching booster/splitter. It has 3 or 4 tv ports and one radio port.
so the Airel can receive digital tv analog radio and dab radio.
a quick google search will confirm this.
its a brand new Airel so that should be fine. What you don’t get with the Airel is the splitter like the type I’ve put the link up in the other post. So I’m not sure if I’ve bought cheap rubbish splitter or if I need to buy something to further split the signal or could it be something else

Ah got you - missing bit of the puzzle is how you've connected the splitter, that shows a normal car aerial connector input but your booster has F type connectors on it - have you made a lead up for that bit?

if your radio has an SMB connector for the DAB side I'd either solder up or buy a plain F type to SMB cable to test properly without splitting it.

Comes out the booster with f type then runs through van then plugs into radio with a normal car radio end hence why I bought that splitter. What and make a fly lead ? Would have to be quite long to reach from Airel to radio

Got it - does the FM side work then plugged in to the radio without the splitter?

I’ve not tried it without splitter but the fm side seems to work with the splitter
