Default Think it needs a coil pack ?

After the hesitation/slight missing prob i've had I think my veccy needs a coil/dis pack after all.

I've changed the plugs and air filter which improved things slightly, no warning lights have come on and the economy is fine.

Cruising is fine too, it's mainly accelerating and when I started him up this morning it was like he was missing a bit. Reminded my of my old Cav when the auto choke wasn't working properly

I've put off getting one in case it's not the coil pack being faulty, I don't want to fit one and find it's the same !

So, my dealer wants £152 for one LMAO - I think i'll try LMF next.

Any more suggestions for sourcing a coil pack for a reasonable price ?

    Cheers
    Si

Cheapest suggestion i think is gonna be to try a breakers. I used to have a renault megane coupe and they used to go every 3 months!!!
Gets very expensive after the warrenty expires and they refuse to replace any more I used to pick them up for about £25 each which was about £150 cheaper than the stealers.

Thanks for that suggestion, I'll try a breakers and see how it goes !

I know of one where they have fairly recent accident damaged cars which I had forgotten about

If the price is reasonable i'd consider getting 2. One for a spare or in case two have gone. It's trial and error to find the faulty one not like a spark plug. Try disconnecting the packs one by one until there is no change in the way the engine runs. That should be your culprit. Good luck

if he's got the 120Bhp model, that'll be the 1.8 SRi i assume, in which case it's one giant cassette unit to change, quite unlike the renaults pencil coils..

so, just try and find one from any 1.8 of around your model age, and it should fit..Try Steve Crook at LMF to see if he'll do you a discount and mention this club..

You're right mate it's a 1.8 SRI with the large, single pack with all four coils attached.

I should be able to phone LMF today, it's been hard to find the time over the last couple of days.

That will save you the hassle of trial and error. Only downside is it's gonna cost you more for a complete set. Is there any way you can self test these units before you shell out. I've finally found out one thing that was reasonable on renaults.

it isn't a complete set 'badge', it's a whole flippin great big unit mate..can you test them, not really..as they tend to fail if you try and 'check for a spark' with the unit removed from the car anyway..
