I can only speak from my own 200k miles plus experience. Except for a clutch at 175k and an inlet manifold I have never had a better car and the engine sounds as fit today as the day I bought it 13 years ago.
Despite the cost of living it still seems popular!

Yea, but when did an inlet manifold become a consumable part?

Yea, but where does he say it is ? 200+K and only a clutch & inlet manifold isn’t bad going .... clearly some have higher expectations.

I love the old z19dth and mine has just gone past the 198000 mark and has been running tuned for some time without missing a beat. To be fair previous owners of mine have spend £100s having new inlet manifolds fitted. However if garages knew their stuff better previous owners would have saved much by fitting the reworked swirl flap arms, swirl plugs or welded manifolds.
At 198000 she uses no oil between services (done every 6000) starts with just a little white puff (not the driver) and pulls like a train and delivers 40 mpg urban and about 60 mpg on a run!

Don't get me wrong I love mine to bits, but its stroppy, then again its a REALLY early one, so likely copped most of the bugs that later engines had resolved.
I love the power, the noise on wide open throttle, the torque and the quietness when cruising along.
I think the issue is the variability of them, some never miss a beat, others throw a fit every other month despite intensive maintenance...
