Default Insignia 2.0T or stick with Signum 2.8T

Had a Siggy 2.8T for year now, and as much as I love driving it I hate having to take it into garage every couple of months. Posted on the latest problems in the Signum electrical thread.

Anyway as it happens the dealer next door to the office where I work has a couple of 2016 Insignia 2.0 petrol sedans for sale.
Both cars are ex full service lease so should be well looked after.

There are few issues thought why I haven't pulled the trigger yet, they're both manuals, so among other things its a hard sell to the missus.
But I've also heard that the manuals on these cars can have problems with the flywheel and whatnot.
The spec is also a bit basic, them being ex company cars, big screen with satnav or reversing camera. Thought the only thing I'd miss is the tyre pressure screen.

So other than the manual are there any issues that I should look out for?

P.S. both have only done about 40k km (around 25k miles)

The fact that they are manuals isn't an issue - the gearbox is the F40, which is the strongest front wheel drive transmission GM ever made. That's a blessing, not a curse.

So no clutch problems then ?

Has anyone driven both the 2.8 and this 2.0, wonder how the driving compares?

It will give you no more clutch or flywheel problems than any other petrol powered car and probably less than a diesel equivalent as the engine will generate less vibration. And unlike the 2.8, you won't need to buy a 100 metre roll of timing chain and fit a couple of metres of it every other weekend...

An insignia 2.0 Turbo Petrol on a 2016 is one of vauxhalls better kept secrets..... its the same engine as the Astra VXR of the same and similar years..... in the Insignia its 250bhp standard but will map to 300bhp with ease. As others have said 6 speed gearbox on it is a gem....

Depends what the prices are, but there are sri spec ones availble with leather and alot more options. The only down side, not the most exciting looking cars, but plenty of kit.

Tbh timing chains has been the one thing that's been problem free so far, knock on wood.

Yeah I think SRI has some better kit (not sure what the European equivalent for it is). Anyways it's the motor and the price what's caught my eye, I reckon if a wait a couple of month I can get a couple of grand off the dealers asking price.
And the the sedan variant is a bit dull looking, I would much prefer the hatchback, but sadly they only way of getting them here is importing from elsewhere in europe, cause they're not sold in Latvia.
Anyway thanks for the advice, I'll keep my eye on them cars, will post pics if I end up pulling the trigger

My old insignia 2.0 turbo petrol was proper quick but it was an early 59 plate model and I had no end of trouble with it, had to have clutch replaced, dmf etc, new alternator, full timing chain replacement, oh and just before I sold it it had lots of warning lights lit up and the radiator burst! Apart from that it was perfect lol, it was the 217 bhp version whereas the later ones had the 250 bhp version which will be quick and mappable but won't be as quick as my astra gtc vxr haha
