Thread: Help testing a relay with no markings/

    yes it will, if you connect the black/white wire to 12v, then when the relay is energised, the yellow wire will have 12v on it too.

    if you imagine the below diagram, without 12v OR earth on red / brown wires (it doesn't matter which you apply / remove, the result is the same), you can see a 'break' in the connection between black/white and yellow wires.

    black/white ______/ _______ yellow
    red ____________(X)______ brown

    now add the 12v / earth to energise the relay (ie when it 'clicks')

    black/white ______________ yellow
    red 12v ________(X)______ brown 0v

    the circuit is completed, and the black/white wire is now connected to the yellow wire.
    the (X) just represents the relay coil.

    hope that makes sense? it does in my head, but so does a lot of random stuff people don't understand!
