    Default Steering wheel is heavy

Hi there guys. I have a nightmare with my vectra. My steering wheel is almost impossible to turn to the right. After few minutes driving, the steering wheel makes a little bit easier. And this problem is when the weather is cold (5celsius or below). I have fixed my alternator, i changed my steering pump oil, but the problem didnt go away. Could it be battery problem? Can u give me some advice?

Thanks. Sorry for my english, im not from England 😂

You need to refresh all the oil in the system ... because the oil shouldn't have a problem with low temperatures at -5 degrees... to me it sounds like there is water contamination.

It is an hydraulic system and the symptoms you describe are water contamination so I would check the system for any obvious leaks... around the lid area and around the pipes etc.

Just seen this. After a rainy period last Autumn, my steering went very heavy. The culprit seemed to be the steering column universal joint, which is easily visible in the engine bay. We sprayed it with WD40 and it freed off, back to normal. Since then, regular treatment with lubricant (GT85 which has ptfe) has kept it free and easy. I hope this might be of help.

Spray the steering column universal joint with wd40 or some similar lubricant and the problem should be fixed

The Darklord approves of this suggestion. This heaving at the wheel is most ungentlemanly.

I am having a similar issue with my vectra, any chance you could post a picture of the steering column universal joint so I can try and attack it with some WD40
