    Default license plate bulb....

noticed the other evening when unlocking the car that one of my license plate lights are out.

anyone know what bulb i need?

i also thought that if any bulbs weren't working that i'd get a message of the display? it has done in the past when headlights/sodelights needed changing - so why aren't the license plate lights checked upon startup?

I had this as well. It is very easy to change.

But the bulbs that were mentioned in the manual for this are not the correct one. Best thing is to take the bulb out and go along to a motor factors, or even Halfrauds.

It is very very easy to change the bulb yourself, just follow the instructions in the manual. If I managed it, then a pre-conceived child could do it!

    Yep...what he said....

Mine went a couple of days ago...studied the little book in Halfrauds, bought bulbs.... wrong type...
Took old bulb in and bought the right type.

Then a brake light bulb went (dash display told me about this one NOT the numberplate one).... its a "501" apparently..but the little nobs on the outside of the bulb that slots into the guide are higher up the bulb than the old ones..so they don't fit right!!!!!! AND they were BOSCH bulbs flippn' rubbish...

    all good fun.

i'll take it out before buying another. i was just puzzled why a 'bulb out' message didn't come up on the display.

Yeah, they probably class the number plate light as a non safety one so don't bother monitoring it, saves a few more pennies I guess.

I thought it was a legal requirement to have your number plate visible in the dark, though??

Yes it is, but it's not a safety related bulb as such - like a stop/tail/indicator/headlight is.
