Cleaning intake manifold Z18Xer
Hi,
i am in the process of cleaning my intake manifold. I have removed it from the engine but am unsure about what to do with the part I have marked in the picture attached here.
Can I clean the manifold with diesel / brake cleaner with that attached on? Should I protect it somehow?

Not familiar with the engine so a proper picture would be better as i cant make out what that part is.

It looks like some kind of actuator? just clean it externally with your stuff and wipe it down, you could take the vac pipes of and make sure they are clean and no obstructions where they attach.

You can take it off it is just a vacuum actuator.... just make sure that the seal to it is fine and you can re-use it...

Fiat designed the engine and then tested it by driving it to the local shops and back. They didn't take into account that people will expect to drive their cars for dozens of thousands of miles. Doing so fills various parts of the engine, including the inlet manifold and the swirl flaps, with soot and oily gunk, hence the need to clean or replace it.
