This is am important health message for Vectra owners. I've experienced a dangerously smokey situation in my 2009 vectra cdti 150 sri estate for far too long but at last the mystery has been solved inexpensively:
I had been getting exhaust smoke in the cabin whenever ticking over stationary. My mechanic who is normally very good had two attempts to find the problem but just said diesels are smokey, and get worse as injectors age, you will have to put up with it. I questioned him about the flexi but he dismissed it saying if the exhaust leaks it will be obvious and noisy. He was wrong. After over a year with this problem, it was noticed at the mot that although it passed, did have a small leak on the exhaust flexi. I ordered new pipe BM50096 incorporating the flexi and pipe each side, and pair of gaskets, all off ebay inexpensively and mechanic fitted today, again inexpensively. Problem solved. Don't put up with exhaust fumes in the cabin, which finds its way into the cabin if the exhaust is leaking underneath the car. If your flexi leaks, get it fixed quickly to preserve your health.
