Vectra 1.8 water pump replacement - engine mount removal?
Hi, I've got a 2002 Vectra with the 1.8 petrol engine that's due a water pump replacement.
I've read the Haynes manual guide for replacing the water pump and it says that you need to lift the engine with a hoist so you can remove the right-hand engine mount. That's a bit beyond my comfort zone.
Is the Haynes manual correct or is there a way of doing it that doesn't end up needing to remove the engine mount?
Also is it worth getting an OEM water pump or are there any good 3rd-party alternatives?
Thanks!

Use a block of wood between the sump and jack and jack it enough to support the weight of the engine whilst undoing the engine mount, as to waterpump i would just go OEM.

i accidentally dropped the jack while the right side motor mount was out on my diesel....didn't go anywhere tbh and its heavier than a 1.8 petrol...

Thanks for the responses. I got access to the How2 posts here and I'm feeling a bit more confident about it. I'll have to make a trip to screwfix first to get some torx sockets but I think I'll give it a go. Cheers!

Don't tell me you were using the paperclip jack that comes with the car?

Nope 3 tonne floor jack (garage style) twisted the release too far and the jack lowered a bit more than intended, engine hardly went any lower than its position with the mount in - then again the other 3 mounts were still in place (front rear and gearbox)
Still put the jack back in place though, just to avoid the risk of ripping the mount from any undue stress
