Vehicle : Saab 9-3 (Vectra C in disguise)

    Trim : Linear Sport

    Engine : 1.9 TiD 150

    Year : 2005

Default 1.9 150 - Swirl blank - Tafmet or X8R or new manifold?

So pondering what way to go - either remove and blank the swirl flaps using the Tafmet (~£23) or the X8R kit (~£34) or alternatively new latest revision inlet manifold from neo brothers for £150

    Any comments?

Main concern about deflapping the manifold is loss of low down power and thats something that I couldn't as yet find a definitive answer to on the forum (that or my googlefu isn't what it used to be)

Considering getting it mapped after this but I have one eye on the MOT and DVSA statement that they are updating the emissions book to list the smoke opacity for all diesel cars, seemingly from manufacturer, which could make the lives of many diesel owners.....difficult, could always I suppose restore the factory map once a year.

    Bin the Saab-Fiat and replace it with a Saab-Saab - a 9-3 with the B207R engine.

And then remap it for even more go.

Saab sportwagons (which I need for the dog) are generally diesel like mine, not very many petrols and due to dieselgate their prices are inflated.....a lot...especially locally....its so bad that Scottish used car dealers are known to buy cars from english forecourts, transport them up and then put them on sale for drastically more money. Supply and Demand coupled with just blatant gouging

If money was more fluid then I'd probably buy something newer and petrol....the 3.0 supercharged V6 Audi S4 avant (~2009 onwards) is seemingly good for 400 ponies with a map....

With the XR "activists" (I can't think of a polite word to use so I'll use that one) seemingly dictating policy and DVSA knee jerking, I'm keeping a regular eye on the Matters of Testing blog to see what new "ideas" have been dreamt up to force us proles onto public transport......

Saab with straight through exhaust - 0.53m-1, Saab WITH cat fitted 0.6m-1 - how in heck is that possible.....makes no sense to me at all....

blanking kit ordered from X8R, gasket from Vauxcentre, dealer wanted £20+VAT, online £10 inc post for genuine GM

Will have a google about resealing the manifold halves after splitting it to clean unless anyone wants to throw me a bone?

Its easy get 1 from someone who is breaking a 150, strip it down and clean it all out and reseal it back together the get it welded up and stick it on the car and get swirls and egr mapped out.....and jobs a good un and its easier to change the timing belt while you at it
