You can fit tyres of different width as long as they are on the same axle, although personally I would prefer them to be the same size.
Despite the cost of living it still seems popular!

There's no reason to have two different widths if the profile is the same. Someone either made a mistake or fitted whatever tyre was cheapest.

Could it possibly be that the 235's go on the rear and the 225's on the front as they will be on the steering axle??
They guy I bought them off said he took them off a 2010 plate Astra H (not sure if that makes a difference coming off an Astra??)
Do you reckon it would be safe to have them all fitted with the 235's as I personally don't like the way the 225's don't protect the alloy rims as much....

Hi
When it comes to 19" wheels, my Vectra Owner's Manual (the book that sits in glovebox) only lists one size and that is 235/35/R19 but no mention of the Speed Rating (although even though the current fitted tyres have different widths, they all have letter W..)

On the astra the 225's may have been on the front to stop rubbing on the inner wheel arch as the 235's may have been too wide and were rubbing

Vectra 19's were factory-shod with 235/35/19 tyres, speed rating 'Y' (186mph max), and Extra Load 'XL'. Load rating on hatchbacks was '95'.

As already been said......
225/35 on the Astra help with clearance when really low.
235/35 is the correct size and
245/35 fit the Vectra/Signum and give a bit more comfort and rim protection. Also makes the speedo pretty much spot on to GPS speed.

You say the 19's should be speed rating 'Y' - All the tyres that came with these alloys are rated 'W'.
I was planning of using the tyres already fitted considering the amount of tread left or would that now be a bad idea and get them all replaced before putting them on the car??
Thanks
