    Default Vectra cdti non start

Hi on my Vectra cdti it has been running fine until about 2 hours ago went out in it and then stopped it and left it for half hour and went out to it and it turned over and felt like engine was going to fall out and it started but stopped straight away now turns over and fire but cuts out straight away there is no codes , on my code reader the live data is showing the frp is going crazy is this to do with fuel thanks

Have you checked the wiring on injector plug number 3?

    Faulty injector perhaps?
    Plug loose on fuel rail?

Hi had look all wiring looks fine I put code reader on and code p0016 cam/crank correlation not present so had look on internet said about timing and I took covers of and put pin in cam and turned over till pin clicked in place and then put crank tool on crank sprocket and lined up ok but on cam sprocket the notch was not lined up and there is no mark on engine to line it up with is this right and could it be sensors thanks

What its trying to say is the readings from the crank sensor and camshaft sensors aren't what they should be, by the sounds of it one isn't present
Check the cam shaft sensor is fully inserted (black front left of engine other side of camshaft sprocket) and undo and reinsert the plug

Crank sensor is known to fail, its down the back of the block below the starter and may need a mirror to see it. It should be a grey kind colour with a single screw holding it and a plug coming out of the right hand side as you look at it

More here: http://bestride.com/engine-trouble-codes/P0016 (seems to concur with my take, the readings from the sensors don't correlate to each other - 1 or both are giving readings that don't make sense to the car)

Hi thanks for reply if ordered new cam and crank sensors , but been told that it could be the timing belt as when I checked timing on it I put cam pin in hole and turned crank until I heard pin go click into camshaft the crank tool lined up ok as well , but the cam sprocket mark was at 3.00 o'clock now people are saying that it should be at 1.30 has anyone got diagram how cam sprocket should be thanks it a cdti 16 valve 150

the hole can't be changed in position as its part of the cam gear.
I noticed people saying that repeatedly but it wasn't true for my engine at all.

What can happen is during say a high speed timing belt snap, the force can break the crank pulley loose of its keyway and it can spin.

Yours sounds more like sensors though as the ECU error is pointing towards that, basically the 2 sensors should both give readings that would correlate with the other (exactly how I'm not sure) but clearly one or both are outputting gibberish and the ECM is rightly chucking an error to say "something isn't right here at all"

Thanks I'm getting new sensors Monday but I will take a look tomorrow as I just bit worried about starting it when got new sensors ,when it first happened I tried starting it but it would not run so had it towed home then next day I went to it and it fired and ran for a second then tried again and it fired up but sounded like it had diesel knock so switched off and started to take bits off I spoke to mate who is vauxhall mechanic and he said that on the code in getting it timing but never replaced sensors with that code ? Plus on 150 bhp engine he said cam timing they us pins not marks

thats what I mean, there's a hole in the cam gear that the spring loaded locking pin "pings" into when its lined up.
The only thing about cam timing that can shift is the correlation between the front and rear cam but thats unusual as they are gear driven (albeit it can happen but its not common)
