It's certainly cheaper than the other short shifters that replace the entire gear linkage. It doesn't look very well finished though and is very 'general' re. its application - short shifters are usually very specific about which gearbox they will fit.

The listing gives very few details so I think you'd be wise to ask the seller quite a few questions before buying like confirming 100% that it will fit the F40 'box and how much it actually reduces the throw. There are no reviews so you might end up being a guinea pig.

A short shifter was the first thing I changed on my car because I hated the original long throw. The M-Tech (now 4H-Tech?) shifter was the only kit on the market at the time and it was quite pricey but is basically a 'fit and forget' part that's well-finished and just works really well. Maybe this cheap part also works well - who knows?

I looked on their website and also their facebook page and they were actually giving them away free for people to try and then report back if it worked. I sent them a message and asked about the compatibility with the F40 box but not has a reply yet.

Yes ive seen the M-TECH short shifter kit which looks like a quality bit of kit which is why Im a bit wary about a small bit of metal with a bolt in it......surly it cant be as easy as what they are selling as im sure somebody would of thought of it by now

If they want to send me one free of charge ill fit it and see what its like.

in the eBay add it says it fits the vectra 1.8l and 3.0 cdti ( 2 completely different boxes one is the f17 the other is the f40) and if you look at all the details it says it is for a Ford Fiesta Mark 7..... keep your money unless they offer you one for free mate

Surely if they offer it for free he will be keeping his money?

Have a conversation with seller and he has said it will fit and shorten the shift by 30%. Money back if it doesn't work so I might get one just out of interest

On that basis, I'd buy one if I didn't already have a short shifter!

Of course, it's always easier handing over your cash than trying to claw it back but these are pretty cheap so the risk is relatively minimal.

Let us know what you think of them if you get one
