Default Gutting out 2nd cat on a CDTI

Is gutting the 2nd Cat converter (next to flexi) an easy job?

I have a replacement flexi so I can undo the clamp to make the connecting pipes shorter so a bit easier to get to but from what I have researched and seen most of the cats have flanges each side so the guts are easier to get to.

Some vids ive seen have had metal internals which look like a right pain to get to

I cut mine off at both ends and smashed it all out with a large chisel and it was a bit awkward but not too bad, if you leave it on the bits will drop down the exhaust and I welded it back on when I finished.
