Yes its a turbo
The car had been driven city driving, so going up down gears etc prior to mapping to run in engine, had no issues and no overheating so definitely no cooling issues, egt were good, afr was good he had to be told to switch on the fan at the front of the car whilst mapping this contributed to the over heating and runs on the dyno

Petrol running lean will produce a lot of heat. Sounds like the mapper dycked it up royally.
Running lean, melted plugs and created all that heat shown on the guage.
I pushed an Yamaha RD 400 off the M4 years ago after melting the piston. Changed the exhaust and didn't rejet the carb, that's a lesson learnt.
Back to the mapper, was he riding a horse whilst wearing a Stetson?

Mapper not taking responsibility he says car had a miss which im assuming he is implying caused the plugs to melt, then said could have been faulty ecu, leads or possible injectors although these were all fine before and after

Time to name and shame..YOU wouldnt want this to happen to anyone else. Has it totalled your engine?..

Surely any MAPer worth the name would not even attempt a remap with a misfire? This in itself shows he is an idiot and was obviously just interested in making money. Was the misfire sorted before the remaping?
Having the Fan operating from a switch isn t the best idea as its too open to being forgotten!

when the car was put on the rollers there was no misfire, a misfire developed under load but disappeared under heavy load the reason for this was we had asked the mapper to disconnect the water injection which he failed to do so thus the water injection was being activated to early causing a blow out of the spark, at the higher load and revs the water was mixing well with the air thus not blowing out the spark
nevertheless a responsible mapper as you say should have stopped the mapping if there were any problems, when you give a car to a mapper you rely on his experience and put trust in them that the session will be conducted with care and not negligence.
Even if this misfire was present and i guess the issue here isnt the misfire as its my understanding a misfire would not cause a plug to melt but what caused the plug to melt which in turn damage the engine.
paid nearly £400 for a mapping session to be given a car back which struggled to drive off the rollers, a lot of money and effort went into the build for someone to damage within a few seconds
Yes engine has lost compression on the cylinders in which the plugs melted
The fan I was referring to was not the car fan but the external fan which is provided by the mapper which mimics external air flow this was off and the mapper had to be told to switch it on

Mapper agreed to give back money paid for the session but not accepting any liability

I think we should know who this one is, if you let us know what engine it is might even be able to point you in the direction of a proper one assuming it’s not one I know who’s done this
