Thanks for that. I know what you're saying, but my lad is gonna want to load the boot right up and I'd rather sort it temporarily and then more permanently in the spring. Maybe, sort of Derby way........ I read a bit of your thread again, just to keep me in the fold.

Oil change completed today, at 142 200 miles. The mileage has gone up a bit recently, on account of several round trips to Newcastle
to fetch and carry the lad to University. The car went like a total dream again, but it's about 6 months since the last change. Even though the mileage is still annually very low really, I always feel better with regular changes. So up on ramps on the drive (too close to the house, so it was a proper wriggle to get underneath). 4.3 litres of Dexos 2 and a Bosch filter and she's done again until summer. Well probably before, mainly because I swear it's quieter after an oil change.

On the downside, the centre section of the undertray has gone walkies. I suspect it happened when the driveshaft and cv joint were sorted, but it was poorly fitted and the speedbumps around here are stupidly high in places. So, I'll have to find a new section. And I STILL haven't located a new roof ribbon, so we're still in darkness. All the local dismantlers haven't got any, naturally. One will turn up I suppose, or this spring I'll have to get creative and trace and fix a break, if I can.

Next job, though, when it's warmer/drier is the front subframe.

Mine used to love Mobil1 0w40, ran so quiet and smooth after a change my opinion but always seemed better than using the genuine gm oil.

Really? I'll give that a try in the spring; I notice that you always use it (your posts) and I wondered why.
