    Default Drive shafts

Are the drive shafts for the 2.2Dti the same as the rest of the models. Mine has done 100k now and there is a lot of shunt in the driveline so it may be time to change them. Anyone know the price???

right, it depends on the old label on the shaft, as there's even 2 for the 2.2DTi....

if it's got a QD identifier label on the driveshaft then you'll need part number 9186550..

if it's got a TW label then it'll need part number 13166587...

but if it doesn't click when turning corners then it's unlikely to be the shafts, more likey to be the rear engine mount reacting to the torque of the engine as it rocks back on it's mounts..

Top guy, Thanks. There is no knocking on a turn just shunt, could this also be the box, I doesn't grumble though.

it could be mainshaft wear, but that's no real mileage for a modern box...so unlikey..i'd still be looking at mounts first..

in fact one quick driveline check..jack up and support both sides of the front of the car. rock one roadwheel back and forth in your hands and see how the other wheel moves.. by differential action it will move in the opposite direction, but it's the backlash in the system between turning your wheel and the other turning that you're looking for.. there will be some, but if there's load of rotational play then the joints will show it..also, while the car is elevated and supported, you can try turning the shaft with your hands to see if there is any play in the splines of the driveshaft or CV joints..

Thanks Gsi, I'll have a look at the rear mount and give the wheels a spin at the same time when I get back from Osmotherly as i've just been told we are going, On a parting shot I got my daughter to wobble the steering while I held onto the track rod ends & I can feel a knock, is that normal as I get a slight wobble at 70-80 had all the wheels balanced with new tyres & it's still the same, Not bad but does get on your wick after a while.

it shouldn't knock at all, and it may well point out some wear in the trackrod ends, or if you hold the shaft and feel a knock it may be the inner joint to the rack..but i'd suspect it's the trackrod ends thou and they're easy to change yourself..and cheap as well

Feels like it's coming more from the center of the rack & the end's feel tight, I'll get it checked tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

Can't see it being the driveshafts, might be the steering arms.
