    Default Got a couple of fault codes - P0021 P0170

    My mechanic is saying to me that he could spend a lot of my money going down the wrong route with these codes and has actually suggested I ask you guys what you suggest first.

    I just googled them...camshaft position sensor and fuel trim issues... what modle car do you have?..my old 2t developed an intermitent starting issue..new camshaft position sensor sorted it .

    Camshast position sensor is a five minute job..litterally bolt out old,bolt in new..do that first and then see how you go on..at least I would. Part available from Vauxhall or Ebay..hth

    Ta - just need to see if I can find it on a how to now so I know exactly where it is

    Am I the only one thinking that the root cause might be stretched timing chains, a fairly common fault on the 2.8?

    Thanks @Woody - don't know if I'm going ****** stupid but I can find camshaft speed sensors; camshaft revolution sensor but not a position sensor. Might just give up and get the mechanic to try it
