    Default F40 Sixth Gear Grinding

Started a few days ago, then it got stuck in reverse and 1st gear once each. Not since.
Changed the gearbox oil for Vx oil with molyslip as well.
It's improved but it's still grinding a bit in 6th gear, particularly when I block change from 4th.
I'm thinking it needs looking at.
£220 + whatever repair needs doing to the gearbox

Had a go at resetting the cables? Apart from removing the battery it’s dead easy.

    That's a good point
I'll see if I can follow the how to tomorrow.
The battery was easy to remove - no insulation

Do you find the Millers Oil a lot better than standard?

Cant say i noticed a black and white difference as a few months before i got the car it had been refreshed when the clutch was done.

    So battery out again today.
    Did reset the gear cables.
Then found I couldn't select reverse.
Did the reset again, then let the car roll back a bit, and was able to get into reverse phew!

Unfortunately, 6th gear still grinds a bit.

Can I live with this for a while, or does it need looking at urgently?

the synchromesh of that gear probably has taken a beating, i would look into these options, have it repaired, find a place that refurbishes gearboxes and do a straight swap, get a 2nd hand replacement of a specialist breakers. (the last one might be the cheapest, and should come with a warranty anyway just don't remove their markings)

The gearbox repairers have quoted £845!!
They say all 6 gears have "gone", and a bearing needs replacing.
And parts are impossible to get hold of for an F40.
But he has one in that he can use.

    Recon box??
    Second hand??
Any suggestions, guidance, ideas, recommendations gratefully received
