Roof ribbon

After looking around on the forum, I found a nice thread telling me where to look for it (passenger side seals off and prise the headlining off a bit). SO, with time on my hands (its the holidays

) I thought I'd see if anyone can point me at a part number for said ribbon. Mine is an 08 SRI CDTI. I did find one post where someone fixed his existing ribbon, I think. Is that doable/a good idea?

I realise too that there are many posts/threads on this, but I don't fancy trawling through all of them, if I can get a pointer.

is it for the auto dim rear view mirror or the lights?

Sorry, I've just seen this; thanks for the reply. It's just for the lights I think, but since I've not seen the auto-dim mirror working on the car, I suppose I could be wrong. It's an 08 SRI CDTI estate, so should I be expecting this mirror?

Probably not if it's a sri and there only fitted on drivers side on uk models. You can tell if it has a light reflective/auto dimming drivers door mirror just look at the actual glass it will have a wide black plastic border running around the outer edge of the mirror glass and theres a curved broken etched line on the mirror also the glass has a slight blue tint. Plus if you look at the passenger side door mirror glass the black plastic border is alot thinner and if it looks just the same as the drivers you havent got light sensitive/auto dim.

Sorry to resurrect this again! I was talking to my garage man and he suggested that the ribbon might be able to be replaced/repaired. I've had a look, now the weathers changed, and I assume that the offending ribbon is the one connected to the fuse box/ relay thing in the passenger side boot cubby hole and which seems to run up the rear pillar. Does this then connect to something else under the headlining or is it one complete loom? I'm trying to plan ahead, since thats a job I'd like to tackle next (big job there's been a few smaller ones that have distracted me).

If pre fitted then they are taped to head lining. If you go to your local scrappy like mine quite a few with ribbons in.

The roof looms are taped to the roof liner (as already stated) and then connect to the fusebox module in the boot (REC).

Just a quick question to clarify my head
I have a 56 plate SRI now and wanna put the dimming mirror, rear roof light and lit visors in this summer. Is the standard roof loom the one that does it all or do I have to add extra's in?
I know I'm being lazy and not looking through, but thought I'd ask as this thread has popped up

Thanks chaps. There aren't too many scrappies up here in the Moorlands, but I'll give it a go. Has anyone got any ideas how much I ought to be paying?
