I know what you mean, the plastic ring part that sits underneath the tyre itself to hold it slightly up off the boot floor.
Like this:

I put a steel 17" wheel in mine, and never had one of these, nor ever saw one available anywhere.
There was no plastic ring on my A just the foam thing with the tools and I got the floor risers. I did have an 18inch full size spare in mine but as said you do loose a bit of height in the boot space,
Now my insignia B is a different story not only did they change the pcd from 120 to 115 they have also made the wheel well in the boot smaller so that it will only accept a space saver. I only found this out after buying a full size 17inch steel as a spare which now wont fit and is just sitting in the boot
Yea that is the bit but I agree I've never seen one in an insignia, I have the toolkit in polystyrene holder thing, just wondered if there was a plastic bit but now pretty sure there isn't, that said I think thee should be a bit of that grey inderlay stuff under tools, spare wheel etc so I need to try and get one of them
There is one. I had one but I have get rid of it as I have no spare wheel in mine.
Over the last 5 year I have had only one puncture, nail.
Fixed, tyre saved.
Now I have that ori repair kit plus some puncture repair kit from ebay and never used it so far
I know that I might have a puncture at any time but i don't care if I'm local, near home.
If going somewhere further I can take one of the winter tyres with me but I never did so far and still had no punctures for a long time.
I have choose to save a bit on the weight of the car and save a bit of space in the boot.
