    Vehicle : Vectra

    Trim : VXR

    Engine : 2.8t 255

    Year : 2006

    Default astra_baz's VXR story begins..........

So a new car so I thought that I would start a Diary for it, share my plans etc

    Car & current Spec
2006 Vectra VXR 255 bhp manual (low tax bracket)
    Full heated Leather
    19” Ronals
    CDC40 Opera DAB
    Decent Service history
No mods that I can see except additional badges & Insignia washer jets

When I bought the car, had failed its MOT on a few things.
Biggest of these were the emissions, broken springs front springs and corroded brake lines.
There were also advisories so will rectify these asap.
With the cars faults known, it still was a good buy so I handed the cash over and got it home.

Now the plans are not to go chasing big power, rather to tidy it up and look after it. Make it OEM+

    SO……………….. the spending commenced.

Firstly the MOT to be tackled

Emissions – car just needed driven for a while as the previous user did not drive far to work so a blast up the motorway helped sort that.

Front springs – Purchased the Eibach springs from Courtenay sport as a little upgrade as a repair.

Brake lines – Purchased some red HEL s/s lines as a little upgrade as a repair.

Other Notifications from the MOT that need rectified and will be tackled soon :-

Front brakes low – (Purchased & awaiting fitting)
    Front tires low tread
Brake dust covers corroded (Purchased & awaiting fitting)

So with that out the way my “wants” kicked in :-

Tidy up the car, replacing and broken/ missing stuff - ongoing

Carry out Debadge of the OPC Line badges and only have original back to standard

    Full service consisting of :-
    Coil packs
    Spark plugs
    Engine Oil
    Oil Filter
Air Filter – to be K&N panel
    Gear box oil
    Power steering Fluid (Green)
    Fuel Filter

    K&N – Purchased & awaiting fitting
    Remap
    Decat

These will include some OEM upgrades:-

Twin audio– Purchased & awaiting fitting
Cooled Glove box– Purchased & awaiting fitting
Rear parking sensors– Purchased & awaiting fitting
Front Parking sensors– Purchased & awaiting fitting
Auto dim interior mirror– Purchased & awaiting fitting
Rear parcel shelf sun blind– Purchased & awaiting fitting
    Rear Door Sun blinds
    AFLS
Rear warning triangle holders in boot
    Heated rear seats
    Powerfold door mirrors

I am crap at electrical stuff though

Prior to purchasing this car, I drove a VXR kitted 19.cdti Vectra which i still have.

Wishing you all the best with your plans mate, good to see the car getting some love, too many of these cars getting broken by Greedy f00kers wanting to make a quick buck!

    Cheers.
Both Vectra’s are the occasional cars so don’t do a lot of miles to justify the diesel so going to put the effort into the VXR as the “Flagship”. That way i can live with the 27mpg on a good day.

I do believe I have a pair of triangle holders in my shed I pulled off my old saloon before I scrapped it
Was thinking of putting them on mine, but don't know if I can be bothered now lol
Let me know if they are of any use!

Do you know if the back boot carpet is different from the preface - with triangle or facelift without?

So this happened today. progress has been slow due to stock piling of parts and the weather.
Luckily it was fixed a couple of hours later.
