How do I improve the pick-up from standstill on the Auto box, as it seems very sluggish and takes awhile to get going when you put your foot down.

As we have 3 z19dth vectra's maybe i can help , whats your mileage and is it a hatchback or estate.
the first thing i would do is make sure to refresh the ATF with the appropriate GM spec oil...
A common failure is the cooling pipes in the radiator and allows water into the autobox fluid.
Check the autobox oil is still ok.
If not the longer you leave it the more you will be killing the box to an unrepairable state.
Hi, its a Hatchback and has 130,000 miles on it, I am not losing coolant, so I don't think there is coolant getting into the box.
I was going to get the fluid replaced, but was going to wait until the winter has finished, if this is not a good idea, then I will get it done sooner. Would this be best left to a garage?
Reason i asked for the model was the hatchback takes off faster than the estate ,we have both so i can compare. I would get your oil changed even if it was only apartial change. If you drop the oil you will drain approximately 3.1 lts. from memory i think the box has about 7+lts in it. What i do is do apartial change then run it for a few hundred miles and then change the oil again each time you do this your diluting the dirty oil ,it's not as good as doing a full change which is more involved. We have had auto's now for 30+ yrs and i normaly do a partial change every year as the oil is cheaper than a box. Also how clean is your inlet manifold/injectors /egr/throttle body ect as all these have a impact on the performance especialy when setting off from a standstill or putting your foot down for a quick acceleration.
