Im looking to buy a new tv. My initial thoughts are for a Toshiba, LG or Sony.
I'm looking for advice about any manufacturers, reviews if you've bought one, or problems you've may have had etc..???

    Try this

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/p...x1y0z1p0s0n0m0

And they are a well established company, good backup and customer service etc, and most of the Novatech branded ones are Phillps,Hyundai or LG

TBH the best model changes all the time. My advice would be to spend £3.00 on a decent Hifi/Video magazine and narrow down your options from their best buys.

I'm out the loop now but I did this two years ago and then spent a month on the AV forums before deciding on which one to get.

For the record I bought a Samsung and have since bought two more (19" versions for a couple of the bedrooms.)

Don't skimp on the cables either. I bought ours from Maplins. The standard TV picture i.e not HD is not as good as a good CRT. This is down to the source not the TV so it needs all the help it can get.

It's worthwhile investing in an upscaling DVD player if you don't already have one and then use a good Component (Red, Green and Blue) cable to connect them. No sound of course on Component so you'll need a phono cable too.

Our main TV is on the wall and if you want to do the same make sure that the model you buy doesn't require an obscure fixing kit which is difficult to get hold of.

Finally be aware that the Currys, Dixons, PC world group sometimes have model numbers specific to them. For example ours ended with something like. BD51 123X. All price comparisons made this group the cheapest as obviously only they sold it! The actual model number was something like BD51 123. Hundreds or retailers sold this model and it was available much cheaper.

Finally Finally before you buy google discount vouchers for the place you are buying from. Often there will be some kind of discount through an offer code.
