on mot it also said slight movement in rack. can this be tightened or does it need bits?

No movement on that.

Normally ball joints which attaches to knuckle or the tie rod which was shown earlier, if you’re lucky might even be loose u/j on bottom of column.

It's a Vauxhall, so inner tie rods will have some slight play as well as outers from how it's been put
Inner tie rods are very common to have play in on just about any Vauxhall
My old Vec C had it for 3 years on the MOT (tester advised me but never put it down) yet I never felt it while driving

oh my doesnt time fly. still not passed yet. it turned out to be drop links but on 2nd mot was slight play in rack. very long time off the road
