    Default Sleeping car (and member)

    Hi all,

My beloved Signum 3.2 V6 has been enjoying a blissful sleep in Dorset for the last two years.
I now fortunately/unfortunately live and continue to live in London but want my Signum back with me, too many good memories, and parking now will allow.
It has been to the garage today for an MOT assessment as i know a few things need to be done, and this is the summary report.

    • Brake lines corroded and gone. Very long travel on the brake pedal.
    • One headlight dulled to MOT failure point .
    • Broken springs

It also has a leak of fumes from somewhere to the rear of the engine block.
I need them to investigate as the fumes at low speed coming into the cabin is too much of a problem. They want/need to spend 4 hrs or so stripping to investigate.

So have a few question and requests for advice.

    1. Q) On the fumes any ideas on what they might find?
    2. Q) Springs especially front ones seem to be always breaking, are they more durable ones out there? OEs don't seem to last long.
    3. Q) New headlights for 2003 Signum, what do people recommend, angel eyes, black, etc? Considering replacing both, and doing that myself nest weekend?
    4. Q) Cruise control fails, often with use of the indicator, and then cannot be used till the car is turned off and on again. Any ideas?

Fumes need to be sorted first, so what they find needs to be non-ruinous.

    Car is in Dorset, Wimborne.

No idea to fumes but in answer to other questions

2, I had Eibachs on mine but other members will be along to give other opinions
3, down to personal choice i swapped my chrome ones for black angel eyes but had to swap the levelling motors over
4, Could be just a case of removing the stalk and cleaning the contacts but iirc could be the clutch pedal dropping due to worn spring

    Hope that helps

Even though mine is the Diesel engine, I was getting fumes coming into the cabin. It was worse on start up and idle rather than driving. It turned out to be the exhaust flex pipe leaking. Once replaced the problem was cured.

Dont know now if this helps at all.

Thanks - last time looked at Eibachs and the like it seemed lots of lowered option but few stock height. I like the stock height, so will have another look.
Its an Auto so will look at the stalk, as i also need to clean up some of the window switch contacts too.

This project moves on very slowly.

My local garage is being very pessimistic about the fumes, requiring a few hundered pounds to take the engine bay part enough to inspect and then diagnose the issue. They then say that getting hold of manifoild parts is all but impossible (there working assumption of what is wrong).

Do any of you have suggetion for where i should look for parts for my 3.2 V6, manifolds gaskets etc, and or any other helpful pointers?
