Diesels should have one fitted but if its come loose or lost some frame fixing points then it was probably taken off/lost whilst driving. Mine has a self tapper as one corner doesn't have the frame fixing for some reason

IIRC they were only fitted for the EU noise regulation

although mine is a xectra the cover was taken off a couple of years ago by the mechanic when i asked him if it was broken and did i need to replace it his response was,are you planning on going to france no i said, then don,t bother getting one, professional advice there, so i think he got fed up taking it off for the annual service which i did every 6 months then as i was doing a few miles every year, when i looked on line for one they where quite cheap but i still don,t have one under the engine and its passed a lot of mot,s since he removed it woulkdn,t be surprised if it wasn,t propped up in his garage waiting to sell it back to me

i took mine of my insignia when i replaced leaking steering rack to my horror the subframe was rotten and holed, the undercover has sponge attatched wich holds water against the subframe, so after replacing the subframe with a new one i threw the undertray away

Heard this before, i would loved to have been in the room when the numbskulls decided that the engine is too loud let's wrap it in water soaked pressed cardboard!

So those undertrays are just for noise suppresion! I took mine off today to try to trace a water leak, I'll be leaving it off for now (Vectra C Diesel). Also removed the two side panels from the wheel arches as with the tray removed they are only held by one screw
