Default Legislation assoc. with vehicles that carry more than 9 passengers

I think this was posted a while ago (can’t find the post).

We are going through this loop at the moment with our site vehicles to ensure we comply with the legislation

If you have a vehicle that can transport more than 9 people (which can implicate some long wheelbase landrovers) we are:

    a. Making sure they are fitted with a tachograph (before 31st Dec 2007).
    b. With immediate effect recording the drivers hours in a proper drivers log book

If you hire in any vehicles with the ability to carry 10 or more people they obviously need to comply

Sorry if this has been covered recent post but I thought it might be useful

There is actually a list of exemptions
As a result most minubuses are exempt, especially those used by vehicle hire companies

The major problem now is that minibus drivers require to hold a D1 category

    Thanks for the info M8internet.

I'm was just following the directives that come from above, but I will do a bit more digging to get the exception and license thing sorted in my head.

H & S is a bl@@dy nightmare, we had a push to reduce/conserve energy about a month back and I just read in today’s paper that ECO-friendly light bulbs are now being classed as hazardous waste (high levels of mercury) and the extra grief that brings with disposal.

Just checked and the paper has it wrong - surprise/surprise Although fluorescent tubes and energy-saving bulbs contain mercury, they are not classed as special waste under the Special Waste Regulations 1996. However, those companies dealing with lighting waste must hold a Wastes Management Licence.

My workplace (including my office at home!) now have to have three refuse bins; one for general waste, one for paper waste, and one for animal byproducts
The bin lorry then arrives and puts the contents of all three into the lorry at once
    How barmy is that!

My company has about a dozen minibuses
The drivers must hold D1 category licences
However, some driver have never sat a D1 test
Only driver in the last few years have required the extra test, including myself when I lost the entitlement as a result of a change of address!
