Default number of issues following scv change.

    hello all,

trying to work through the new issues with my car that have manifested since changing the scv's

first up i have a massive coolant leak that is dripping down from the gearbox side of the engine block. wonderting if anyone knows of any pipes prone to breaking round their - this leak is very large and i have stripped back down to the egr cooler this morning and the coolant pipes going to it both seem to be fine from what i can see.

secondly the car now has a massive knock/misfire and engine is visibly shaking, i also have no boost at all and car seems to be almost limited to 2000-2500rpm.

NO FAULT codes are logged at all. nor is engine management or coil light on.(or at least no codes visible to my obd2 scanner have not tried opcom yet as i have only just recived my unit today)

any ideas for the cause of this anyone, part of me is half suspecting i still have a air lock in the fuel system but not sure if car would even run in that case.

i can hear what i think is a air or vacum leak but currently cannot trace it.

any suggestions appreciated, ill be getting back under the bonnet and jacking car up later to see if i can spot the leak at all

ok opcom is saying cyl 6 misfire, which would make sense for the way the car is running, but im also getting no boost and quite a bit of white smoke so thinking their may be water getting into the engine somewhere,
when i did the scv's i did remove the lower intake manifold from the bank of cylinders closest to front of car which i believe is 1 3 and 6. im wondering if i have got a leak from the egr cooler and water is getting into the intake that way as i did not replace the gasket (didnt originally plan on removing the lower intake).

    any other ideas welcome

I didn’t replace the gaskets on the manifolds either the first time I had them off but I did however make sure everything was clean (not saying you didn’t btw), I managed to split the hose to the egr cooler which gave me a bad coolant leak, I’ve since replaced it with a new one.

the only other problem I had after refitting everything (apart from forgetting to connect the fuel line) was I didn’t make sure that the connections to two modules on top of the engine were connected properly, the engine ran like crap before completely dying on me.

i did wonder now as I had some minor coolant leaks since that maybe replacing the hose clips as well, at some stage someone has put a coolant leak stop solution which has sorted out the small leaks I had.

ive tried swapping the two top modules around with no difference, opcom is saying cyl6 misfire and its come up twice with a p0235-50 turbo control module malfunction code also now.

do you know which pipe on the egr cooler split.

also car seems to be putting out a LOAD of white/grey smoke which im not certain if it is linked to the coolant leak or something worse (like turbo)

The coolant hose under the egr cooler was split on mine, hose was old and didn’t being disturbed.

i only said about the modules as I’ve now had to cable tie on two of the connections.

i also had issue because I hadn’t connected the vac hose to the blue sensor at the front of the engine, in fact most of my problems is generally forgetting connect things back up lol

haha i know that blue sensor is connected as its been hardwired into my loom by somebody previous, and not very well at that. but i believe it only controls the swirl flaps anyway. i will take a look at the connectors again in the morning
