    Default rear speaker wiring

as above: Does any body know what colour the speaker wire is going into the back of the veccy??? Gonna fit speakers into the parcel shelf and i'm gonna 'TAP' into the rear speaker wires that run along the side of the car into the rear! It wasn't too hard when i fitted the same mod into my previous veccy but that one didn't have rear electrics, my current veecy has!!! Besides that i cant remember what colour the wires were anyway

I had a rear door card off only this evening, could've looked then for you.

Simplest thing is to pop off the bottom part of the door card and have a look - you're going to have to tap off frm there anyway.

    Hi duncan,
i can tap off from inside the trim that runs along the length of the car. Thats where i tapped of the last time anyway??? Just were it meets the rear door, the trim on the inside pops off and the wires are clear to see.

Out of curiosty but, how awkward is the rear card to pop off, and how would i go about doing it, please????

Why do you want to put speakers in the rear shelf ? you will gain absolutely nothing , upgrade the ones in the doors before hacking the car apart .

Pull the HU and have a look there. You can tell the front ones cos they have a another wire running from them both to drive the 7th middle speaker.

I think you're both right - there will be an improvement by upgrading the OE door speakers, but you'll probably get the same improvement by fitting extra (presumably 6x9's?) in the parcel shelf.

Now, if you could replace the door speakers with 6x9's......happy days!

Well thats it, upgrade complete and sounds awesome. I have put extra JVC 6x9's in the parcel shelf and it makes such a difference. Only problem is....... my veccy is a saloon and i didnt realise the frame of the car runs so close to the parcel shelf, so the speakers are standing upright facing into the cabin, DOH!!!!!!

Was so easy to tap into the wires, the wires that run to the rear speaker on the passengers side are: green/brown and brown, and on the drivers side they are: brown/white and white (if i remember right). Just popped off the trim that runs along the inside of the car and got at them from there. Easy upgrade to the sound system.
PS: i have changed the head unit too, so this probably helps
