    Default Wheel bearings

To be more specific the front wheel bearings.

Guess it expected nowadays that things go wrong before payday come rolling around, couple of days back I began to hear that oh so familiar drone of a wheel bearing on its way out which I've got narrowed down to the front near side (not helped by my town having more roundabouts than residents).
Now going by what people have posted already I'd be looking for the varient which has the IDS option? (although my car doesn't actually have it) its a 57reg sri cdti 150 but read that all Vecs after a certain year are fitted with these.

    So basically my questions are:
    1. Is this the right one?
    And
    2. Should I replace both at the same time?

    Cheers

Hi Yes thats the one . There are only 2 types both are the same it's just the type of plug thats different. If your plug looks like the ebay one in your link then thats correct. HOWEVER quality is the problem when it comes to buying one. The originals are made by FAG You should be able to get one for just under £90 and if the old bearing has lasted 163,000 then that shows how good they can be. Some of these cheap bearings that will have european names will still be made in china and down to a price they can last as short a time as 3 weeks . Personally it's FAG OR SKF but you don't seem be be able to buy them as cheap as FAG. Just replace the one side .I normally would replace both sides on anything else like trackrod ends/drop links/bushes/springs/shocks,but the wheel bearings no. just to say we have 3 vectras and have only replaced 2 bearings , both around 90,000mls .

Thanks for the reply bud, will just replace the one side just now and have a look at the brands you've mentioned.
Just thought I'd ask here as I'm unfamiliar with what ones are actually good and last a while.
