    Default Foreign Lorries

My Elite 2.8T is currently off the road maybe permanently due to negligence by a Spanish 40 ton driver.

Travelling on the M25 at around 65mph a Spanish lorry pulled out into lane 2 while I was overtaking and clipped my rear nearside quarter panel, this spun me 90 degrees so that I was now attached to his front bumper. I travelled attached in this way for at least a quarter of a mile trying to avoid going down a very steep embankment. We finally came to a stop where he kindly reversed away from me.

This was all caused because he did not look in his blind spot mirror or did not have one.

The police refused to attend as no one was hurt even though we were virtually blocking one lane of the motorway, makes you want to lie and say there were injuries.

The Highways agency patrol arrived after about 15 mins but did nothing but take notes, then disappeared leaving me to wait for recovery for nearly another hour, in this time my wife was freezing mainly due I believe to shock as she had the front of the lorry alongside he window, plus she had been pushed down the motorway by another foreign lorry who did not stop a few weeks ago.

Sorry its a long rant but I'm still mad. Pics later when I have resized them.

    thats really rough mate...

i had a freind who was driving over the QE2 bridge at dartford when her car was pulled under the side of the trailer..she thought she was going to die as he pushed her into the edge barrier on the hard shoulder..she beleived she was going over the edge..the police did not attend and the wagon driver left false details and left the scene...

lets hope that the spaniard had insurance, and that your wife feels better soon...

Luckily he had all his paperwork and willingly gave it to me and the HA guys, however the Insurance Co say that it will take months so even if the car is repaired, I still have to cough up the excess, OK I can afford it but many cant.

My worry is the damage externally does not look very bad but I don't know whats its like underneath, its damaged the front suspension.

Yikes!! Glad you're both okay and hope your wife isn't too traumatised after having a 40 tonner right by her window!

Hope you get it all sorted.

Thats terrible mate Fingers crossed the insurance will sort it for you quick..

We have the spanish lorries round our way all the time due to collection of shellfish, and for the whole they are certainly the best of the foreign truck drivers...

Thanks Duncan, yes we are both OK, went back on the M25 later that day, she even joked "be careful we are running out of cars"

I currently have a VW Touareg 2.5TDi as a hire car as it was the only auto they had at the time.

Glad your ok mate, car looks repairable, but before they do insist on an engineers report, I say this cos the wheel looks like it took a right scraping, and that could have bend the suspension or axle components.

Car looks a little sore, but glad you are both OK.

We have had exactly the same thing happen here in recent weeks. A film crew were driving with a lady doing a report on dangerous truckies when the truck tailgating her moved from the outside to middle lane & clipped an E-class Merc. It was spun 90' and was wedged up against the front of the truck for a good 200 metres. Smoke gushing every where & it was all caught on film. Amazing to say the least. The next night the Merc driver was interviewed & was happy he was driving a Merc, but said it was the wildest ride he had ever been on.
