    Default rev limiter

Hello folks, new to this site as I have recently bought a 2004 Vectra Sri turbo. Z20net engine. My question is should it have a rev limiter as mine doesn't? Sorry if its been posted before. I'm going from an sri cav to Vectra c, still learning lol

All my previously owned Vauxhall's have had rev limiters.

The only exception was my Mk1 1.3 Astra which I could rev up to 8,000 rpm, which was the limit of the rev counter it had.

All my other Vauxhalls have had electronic throttles of one type or another and the rev limit controlled by the car's ECU.

But they were all UK spec cars. No idea for Northern Ireland.

All standard cars have rev limiter, it protects the engine...Max power 129 kW / 175 BHP at 5500 RPM.

Yes I know cars have rev limiters that's why I thought mine was a bit strange. It just goes to around 55000 and stays there. Doesn't cut out. Rev stays solid. I was just looking to know if anyone would know why it doesn't limit? I mean it always goes to same rpm in any gear. Not top end

Have a look in the Vectra section. Very sorry for not putting it in the Vectra section, but there obviously the same engine etc as its called Vectra c/signum-insignia-owners club. Think I had a beer to many and misplaced it.

used to have a Cavalier MK2 1.8, with the older 1.8E engine. circa 1985, no rev limiter.
fitted an Astra GTE digi clock set, the rev counter used to go off the top, flash, then start again from the bottom.

suffice to say, I had NO mechanical sympathy when I was younger!

back to topic, if the revs stop at 5500, then that's a limit, isn't it?
