vectra c estate alarm problems
Hi,
The siren on my alarm goes off randomly; even though the car is not locked or; or alarm on. it is sometimes is within minutes, and some times a week.
The temperature or weather makes no difference.
The only thing that I can think off is that the actual alarm back up battery is faulty, that's if it has one.
Any advise would be helpful.
I have read lots of threads of this problem, but they all with the alarm on.

No, it doesn't, but I can make it come on by removing F21 and F23(alarm) fuses; disengage the alarm, but that would be expected.
But I only do that at night so as to not annoy any one.
The strange thing is that the car does not be locked or alarmed, but the alarm will still go off randomly..

Thanks, I have read the thread, and easily found the connections to the rear fixed windows. I shall link both with a bit of copper, then remove one at a time to see which one is the problem.
But firstly I have cleaned the connectors and fitted them back in place, as from my experience a lot of intermittent electrical problems are poor contacts. It may be days before I know what clears the problem, as it can occur infrequently.
But I will up date this thread when I know the answer. Rolyh

if its coming on randomly i would put money on it being the batteries in the power sounder starting to fail, giving the age of the vectra's now its highly likely.

Just out of casual interest and just in case, where are they located.

Just to add to Plasma's comments, the batteries themselves are inside the power sounder, which is where he's said it is located.
But not sure if they're still available, or no obsolete?
If you disconnect the power sounder, then chances are the alarm or car horn will sound, possibly both.
To prevent this, first switch on and off the ignition, then disconnect the battery under the bonnet within 15 seconds. It pays to slacken off the batt terminal beforehand so you're not fighting time while using spanners.
