Default Location of AHL amd YRS ECU

    Hi there

Can anyone help me locate the above ECU's both with the canbus wires on vehicle chassis

Cannot find them anywhere on car. TIS says AHL ecu is behind N/S front light but nothing there.

    Many thanks

    Car is a 2003 Signum 2.2 DTR

if u have it, its on the nearside headlight on the side of it, not underneath,

and Yaw Rate Sensor is not an ECU, but a sensor and its bolted underneath the gearstick assembly

Thank you plasma - According to canbus architecture - both these components are on he canbus high circuit and have the shielded green and white wires going to them? - is that correct please - could not find the AHL anywhere and the wiring block to the lights does not have can bus wires that I can see. Thanks

if you have a DTR you wont have a Yaw Sensor, thats for models with higher output engines...

And do you have xenons or afl lights? If not then you wont have that module either

Thank you again - that might explain why I could not find them. Not sure the difference between zenons and afl lights - these are pre face lift design - squareish headlights. There have the stepper motors in them.

I have the driving assist warning light on the dash - the skid design which is why we though the car has the yaw sensor fitted. We have been taking oscilloscope readings of the canbus frequencies separating the engine ecu, abs and power-steering and something in the chain is causing chronic random bit corruption (white noise)which is messing the car up. The only two remaining components on the high frequency canbus that have not tested is the AFL YRS because I could not find them yesterday when we had all the testing gear out. There is excellent resistance on all the canbus wires and we have tried two different CIM units which describe the same errors no canbus comms. The Cim units seem ok and are sending out a good canbus signal when output is isolated.

Thanks for your help - appreciate it.

check the ABS connector itself as this is known to cause issues on the highspeed can... Also have you checked the actual resistance across the canbus network to see if its within tolerance?

If you have the headlight up/down control on the light switch you probably wont have xenons/afls as these use automatic level sensors and a light switch without the up/down control..

What fault codes are you getting?

    Hi there Plasma,

I spent yesterday looking at the car fitting it between jobs.

There are loads of fault codes - but the key faults U2105, U2106, U2108, U2111 - no high speed canbus comms so nothing will communicate with ECU. It is all down. I had a TECH2 guy out saturday who read and tested everything and found that resistance is good and in tolerance across the white and green wires on all connections. When he put an oscilloscope on the can bus ECU wires saw that the signal was corrupted - like something in the canbus network was causing white noise fragmented signal. He also checked CIM and reckoned it is fine. He suggested that it was a smaller unit in the car (AHL YRS) causing the problem (that I could not find then)and I do not think it spec'd now as you say - so suggested that I isolate canbus out-put wire from CIM (5 and 6) and run them straight to ECU then ABS then EHPS in parallel. Did that yesterday still nothing will not start. Just a click. Nothing on opcom either. Still will cot communicate with CIM or ECU.

I have been over all the plugs and checked everything - new battery fuses earth wires etc - the car is quite low mileage and in great condition. It was left standing over winter and I think got damp. I have opcom which can read BCM and instruments etc no problem but is unable to read ECU and CIM - saying cannot connect to ECU. Again Same yesterday so nothing changed there -

Some other questions if I may please: - I have found an exact part number replacement CIM unit on ebay for a reasonable price. Do I need the 4 number code from the donor vehicle to use it please?

Would the BCM be at fault in some way? Would that cause the CIM to go down?

Would the immobilizer cause the problem?

Really appreciate your help and advice - Thank you - It is something simple I know and it would be a shame to scrap such a nice car for the sake of a broken control unit or wire.

First of all whereabouts in the UK are you, Message me if you dont want to give your location in public, just in case your near to me...

2nd.. Does the fuel gauge move when you turn the ignition to on?
3rd.. Does the car/spanner light flash with the ignition on...

you say you hear a click, is that from the starter or from inside the car?

As for CIM unit, yes you would need the car pass/4 digit code to be able to reset the donor unit..

Normally on these cars, you can have one unit coded with the wrong code and it will still crank....

Once i get the answers to these questions i can advise further.

Hi Brixton London - Car is in Farnborough Kent.

fuel gauge does not work - the others dials twitch for a millisecond or so.

The click is from BCM - relay inside the car. the starter cranks and starter relays fine - the switching trigger for that relay is not there.

No spanner light but displays EHPS fault light and the weird little skid light logo which is why I thought it might have a yaw sensor.

I have just bought a BCM from Swindon vauxhall breakers with matching part number and code will fit next week. It has been divorced with Tech 2. I can recode as I have the car code pass key for my car -can I re code with programming function on opcom?

Again thank you for your help and advice - really appreciate it

what I mean - I have tested starter independently from the ignition by running live feed etc and it cranks ok - nothing on the key/ignition
