    Default What Bulbs?

    Afternoon,

Got to say this is a quality forum. Had my 06 Vectra for a week now and have noticed a number of issues what are clearly described in this forum. Been a company car drive all my life so this is the first car I have owned, apart from the power steering failure yesterday it has been a nice experience so far.

I had my first night time driving experience last night and noticed the p**s poor main beam illumination. My question is what bulbs do you recommend for my car and can I replace them myself.

Thanks for your help in advance

    Grizzly.

    Grizzly.
This is a common mod - I have replaced all my front bulbs now cos the VX ones are pants.

there is apparently a known fault with the lighting system in the fact that they don't project light far enough. I replaced my bulbs as follows:

    dipped - H7 - Philips DiamondVision
    Main - H1 - Philips BlueVision
    Side - W5W - Piaa Platinum White
Idicators - Offset fitting - Philips SilverVision
    Fogs - H3 - Philips BlueVision

Apart from indicators if I had the money I would go for Piaa all round on the front

The indicators are by far the worst to get to, but the others are not to bad - be prepaired to remove the top of your air box to get to offside cluster. If you are like me and have above average sized hands also be prepared for a lot of cuts and grazes!! only joking some of teh bits are a bit tight!!

Of course there are those that would say the easiest way of changing the bulbs is to drop the front bumper, remove the light units and then change them. Far to much messing around. It is possible to get in there without all the messing!

    Neil,
Thanks for the comprehensive reply, I noticed that full beam lights up the entire countryside shame the dipped beam is so poor.

Think I will go for the Philips Blue Vision H7

    cheers

Many members here use silver stars bulbs and I think they are happy with them, you can talk to Duncan I think he has those and I think he actually measured how much brighter they are.
I bought some Blue vision´s for the low beams and its better than the factory ones , but to be honest I was expecting a more whiter beam than the one emmited.

got some of my bulbs from Red Griffin - this link gives details of a promotional discount code for bulbs using them - 15%

I bought mine before I joined the forum so couldn't take advantage of the generous discount - you have done it the other way round so no problems

You add the discount code when you go to the basket!

Thats why I went for DiamondVision for the dipped H7 - in future however I will go with PIAA as they rock! - they are also bl**dy expensive mind!

I do a lot of night time driving and after spending £10,000 on a car I don't mind spending that little extra on some decent bulbs. Never owning a car before I have never had to go through this before. Never heard of PIAA but I see a lot of people talking about them.

Does anybody have any recommendations on Dipped h7 PIAA lights.

P.S. thanks for the info on the Red Griffin site Neil.
