Default Spanner came on while driving, no boost

The spanner on my vec came on whilst driving to work this morning and was flat through all the gears, as if a boost pipe had come off. No eml and I parked up and found no boost leaks. Left it 5 mins and it went back to normal when I turned it back on. Any idea what this could be? Also, the top hose in the picture was cool after a 25 mile drive, is that normal? (The one just on the right of the ecotec badge)

that top pipe is a boostpipe so yeah it should be cool.... you need to take of the cover and check those little white plastic pipes as they are the vacuum pipes and if they have a break or split or the connectors have a split your car will go into limp mode (the no boost thing you experienced) by turning the car off and back on the ECU will clear this mode and the car will respond normally again...

that said with the car acting normally after you turned it off... check the big boostpipes for splits or leaks i can clearly see you have the oem rubber pipes and these can leak/split after a few years of service.

Thanks. The car has just clocked over 200k and I said if it made it that far without breaking i'd spend a bit on it (I paid £400 for it at 193k). This weekend I will be changing:
    - discs and pads front/rear + pad sensor
    - sachs shocks front and rear + eibach springs all round. The old shocks are f****d and springs haven't been changed as pairs so sitting at a weird angle.
    - front drop links
    - boost sensor and egr clean + inlet manifold gaskets
    - thermostat change + coolant temp sensor change
    - oil+filter/air/pollen filter change.

I'll check all the clips and boost pipes for any small leaks

Most likely to be a boost sensor in my opinion, had the same on mine.
