Rear end banging????
Morning. Had this annoying knock on rear end for a while now and waited until I changed springs to let my mechanic inspect thoroughly. He’s checked every rubber and joint but cannot pin point the banging. Everything looks in good condition to him and no leaks on shocks.
Could it be bump stops? I’m lost on this one so can anyone help

Has he also checked for the exhaust hitting the bodywork if jiggled up and down?
I'm sure this has been put on the forum before but I thought I'd save you the search

All exhaust mounts seem fine and to be honest it’s pretty much a solid fit.
It definitely feels and sounds like it’s suspensi related .
Going to try change bump stops and do a process elimination unless the knocking is pin pointed.

had this on mine when I first got it, the garage thought it was the banaha arm and changed the off side one, turned out to be the shock so they fitted a pair good job it was under warranty at that point

That’s what I told the mechanic that I reckoned it was shockers , but he had a good look and said there was no leaks???
Banana arms look new and previous owner informs me he did them 13 months back .
Arrrrrrghhhh what do I do

One our vectra z19dth had knocking at the rear ,so while it was in for the mot i got the guy to have a right good heavy lever at all the suspension arms/anti roll bushes ,i was there to watch him do it and he said everything was ok. But having 3 vectras i knew the banana arm outer bushes and the lower arm outer bushes were worn ,so i replaced the banana arms, the lower straight arms and the lower bush ( the one on the end of the rear suspension spring arm). All this work did cut down on the knocking but it was still there,so i replaced the anti roll bar bushes ,when i removed them one side was ok the other side was more worn but in situ they looked ok. The knock was was gone after that.
