Would have done it if I had the time but busy week and holiday on Saturday.
At least 1" on oil in header, but difficult to say just how much.
Car drove fine though, only using oil quick made me check. Guessing it's been an issue for a few weeks just didn't notice.

it doesn't sound like its a LOT of oil that's mixed in. I had visions of the header tank being full to the cap with oil and coolant.
when it comes to oil mixing with coolant it can only really be 2 things, oil cooler or Head gasket but from what ive read and researched ( im a former K series engine owner who lived with the fear of HG failure) the HG on these engines are pretty robust and rarely fail. Ive read more about oil coolers failing than I have of head gaskets and going on my experience of talking apart my oil cooler and seeing how brittle the gasket had become I would bet my money on it being just that.

Small update.
Took to garage yesterday and they said they couldn't check the oil cooler without removing, but they did a sniff test on the header and detected exhaust fumes.
So head gasket.
How reliable would a sniff test be with so much oil in header ?
Garage didn't want to touch the car after that as said too expensive and time consuming.
Anyone had the head done on a 1.9cdti ?

The oil would have contamination from the combustion anyway.
Given that there’s the possiblity of a gasket failure taking the oil cooler off to inspect is peanuts compared to the head job so I would have thought whilst they had the car that would be whipped if first as it will be easy on a ramp

So could oil in the water cause a false result on the sniff test ?

Update. Took car to my mechanic who was on holiday when the issue arose.
Said it's probably the oil cooler so he changed it.
I have the car for the weekend so the flush can do its job rather than sitting on tickover.
Seems ok for now but he says it could be the head still but we will see.
Gotta take car back on Tuesday for a few more flushes and a few checks but it's driving fine.
Fingers crossed.

Mechanic said it works better to be driven than leaving on tickover.
Only do about 40miles over weekend.

I may be completely wrong but I would have thought that the engine flush is designed to thin the oil and obviously flush any crud blocking oilways etc...so if your running the car on 'thinner 'oil then it could cause pressure problems..but Im more than happy to be corrected.
Personally I buy a decent flush and follow the instructions on the tin/bottle.

The flush in the car pulls the oil into suspension, and running the car moves the water faster than on tickover.
(So the mechanic told me).
It's going back in tomorrow for final flush and antifreeze adding.
Hopefully the problem is now sorted.
