    Default Vectra C Rear Spring change - Torque setting - petrol 2006 - 2008, 1.8

    Hello

So this is the video which shows how to change the rear coil springs. Seems a fairly straight forward job.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWj71mdi7Hk

At 44 seconds into the video the chap is pointing to the bolt that needs to be taken out to get the spring off.
What is the tightening torque for this bolt?

It seems most people struggle taking the bolt out and then putting it back in.
Anyone know the size of the nut and bolt?

    Thanks

I just tightened mine up as tight as I could. Been to so many garages over the years and they all use air guns nothing is ever torqued. Unless engine bolts. Did mine few weeks back very easy job.

I know what you mean, but it's not best practice.
Would really like to know for sure.

Thanks for that. Are you 100% sure that is the torque for this bolt?
I couldn't see anything in Haynes.
I believe that part is called the Lower Control Arm.

I think the German guy may mention it in his narrative, but I can't understand a word he says.

dude take it from the man if it is in the HOWTO section than it is right otherwise it would've been amended already...
so 90 NM to torque the bolt... which is basically the same as tightening it until you can't by hand with a medium size ratchet

Presumably you can't see the HOW2? Some regular members can. I think it's something to do with if you've contributed a How2 in the past, been a long term member of the forum, and probably something else.

I can't see the photos in the How To.

90Nm does seem to be in the right area.

Just wanted to double check the torque setting with someone who has actually done the job, as the Vectra is designed to be a bit fragile and over tightening seems to break things.

they are pretty hefty bolts so I wouldn't worry about breaking them to easily. Ive done my rear springs a few times and the first time I did it I used a torque wrench but the other ive just used my impact gun.

Its only 1 bolt that needs to come out and if you take the weight of suspension arm with a small jack the bolt will slide in and out with your fingers.
