Scam Email from DVLA
Received an email just now from the DVLA saying my tax is due in 14 days . seemed a strange amount and that to do it on line they need ex amount of details . . I went through the link to check and sure enough it looked alright . Though to myself you get a reminder in the post with a long number to put in . So typed this time instead of dvla ,road/tax .gov . Then was then certain the email was a scam .

So if it was a scam email it *wasn't* from the DVLA then
One way to check is to hover the cursor over the provided link and it'll show the true address.

Thinking about it, I've only ever had paper from the DVLA. The only time I've had an email is when I've wanted a receipt.

Funny that DVLA calls you by a forum nickname. That would tell me it’s a scam

DVLA do send emails in certain cases, I do my roadtax monthly so got a renewal email.
Didnt ask for any details, just told me what my DD will be going forward etc..
Email came from "directdebit@taxdisc.service.gov.uk" in case anyone's interested in the genuine address they should come from, lol.

This particular email had the tax/gov search option where you put your car reg in and it finds your make of of car ,it then went on to say this car needs 95 pound 80 pence to bring it up to date ? Then went on to wanting me to confirm my previous name and bank account details that they have on record .

I hope you sent all the details. Stop being so sceptical. It's costing the country money.
Mind you, when i get my cut (excuse the pun) from my Nigerian Uncle (recently found me and has a diamond mine) I'll be in a position to help bail us out.
