yes the 1.8 has a slightly smaller size so you'll need an adaptor to step down from your front pipe to the middle pipe... other than that it should all be a direct fit... not to sure about the adverse affects it might have on the gasflow but don't think it'll be a problem as it is to far down the exhaust line anyway..

Any decrease in bore size will cause a showdown of the overall laminar flow and exhaust scavenging etc.

Think you forgot some of the aspects of a dual exhaust VS single exhaust

the gasses will flow out regardless of the tiny reduction.. as the narrow bit is to far down the line... also he'll endup with double the amount of exit points plus double the size of pipes... it would be different if he already had a dual exit exhaust and would than go to a smaller diameter... overall he's actually extending the exhaust diameter by as much as 1.4 times (and i'm confident it's more) and actually reduces the resistance (from the smaller diameter) by adding the extra back box...

so no it shouldn't be a problem like i said before...

Just make sure it's not made by Klarus!

My new exhaust clearly has little internal baffling compared to the original, and the rear box blares, guffaws and belches rudely at times, in fact it reminds me of an old Morris Minor, with its belching exhaust note upon gear changes.

The system is accurately made and fitted well. But it sounds incongruous at times.

Well I suppose it was cheap...

Without a pipe layout I wouldn't be able to do the dynamic fluid analysis and losses calculation.

Good luck with the replacement, I hope it works out.

1.8 never came with a twin exhaust so it will be from another Vec anyway, unless it is a custom built exhaust. 1.8 had an internal dia of 41mm, but if its cheap enough just get a stepped reducer cheaply off ebay.
