    Default Gumball 3000 took life

It happened on 2nd of may the evening in Macedonia. A 200km/h Porsche 911 rammed into Golf mark 1 and killed the driver and the female passenger is seriously hurt.

I am disgusted by the whole Gumball concept.
How can a civilised world allow for drunks and drug addicts to drive 1000 bhp cars with no restrictions and regulations. Just because they have money doesnt mean they can go around killing people!!!
    Maniacs!!

I love cars, I love racing, but its for tracks and closed tracks.
    I say ban them!

In that case ban all cars everywhere because some people will not behave in them properly all the time.

You can't go banning everything just because one person did something wrong. Where would it end - - probably with EVERYTHING banned.

    Pathetic.

I say ban 96 years old from driving cars at all. (look at your birthday in your profile).

You quote 'A 200km/h Porsche 911 rammed into Golf mark 1' does that mean it was actually travelling at that speed?? anyway 200km/hour isn't that fast really. (124mph in English units, my Vec will do that, ahem,..... apparently)

ofcourse 96 is not my real age.

Asuming that you are 35, you sound very unreasonable.
    Let others judge you.

I am not unreasonable, just realistic. Taking your point about banning it because one person killed someone, is like saying you cannot drive your car because of all the other road deaths that happen every day.

No-one can judge me, they do not have that right. People can argue with my opinions and can say I am wrong, but they cannot judge me. I have broken no laws here, so cannot be judged.

    And I am 35.

We do not need any more "do gooders" saying everything is too dangerous and should be banned IMO

the porsche hit the golf with 200 km/h. It was at a junction where you shouldnt drive more than 40 km/h

Your comment on this was that you vectra can do 200 kmh. Somehow you dont seem to understand seriuosness of things.

I have seen many people in various states of dismemberment, so fully understand the seriousness of road traffic incidents.

There are people all over the world who will drive like idiots, but banning cars because of them is stupid.
The IRA used to use a hand drill to torture suspected informant (by drilling into kneecaps) but no-one shouted for drills to be banned.

I think your approach to this is narrow minded, doesn't look beyond this event at the bigger picture and is just plain wrong. That is why I voted NO.

We all have opinions, and we are all allowed to voice those opinions.

Maybe we should ban the sale of large chocolate bars, because some deranged moron could bludgeon some one to death with one.

Vectra 17, you put up a thread with a poll asking should the Gumball Rally be banned. When you have an opinion against banning it you then argue about it. If you wanted to see peoples reaction you should have not entered into an argument but watched to comments added to the thread.
Ste has put forward a perfectly reasonable case against the banning of the race which i also happen to agree with. There are too many people ready to turn the world into a "nanny culture" where everything that "could" lead to a death or injury etc is banned. What a boring world that would be.

i have to agree here, there are plenty of unfortunate road casualties every day from poor driving.. what is the answer?.. ban all cars and drivers..enter a nanny state which tells you what to do or when, or accept the risks everytime we get in to a car on the public roads..
