Default Decided to leave SKY TV

Its been decided by my missus and me that SKY has to go, the cost of it is going up, we`re paying monthly at the moment as our contract ran out a long while ago, so we`ll be using NOW TV and Amazon Fire Stick, both of which are now up and running. The idea being that we get used to both using and the way we watch tv. Its been interesting so far and its just case of watching whats left that we recorded on sky tv.
Its not that bad using now tv and amazon, in some ways its better, just need to sort an arial out for freview on the now tv bit, as I think I may have chopped the original aerial wire in the front room around five years ago.

I have done the same and was told by sky my box would become freesat box from the satellite dish . I use freesat via satellite cable into my tv, mine has freesat so its ok. my dad has done same but picked up a manhatten freesat box from tesco for about £49 but you may find them cheaper if you shop around. problem i found with freeview is the signal is not always very good but it will vary with different areas and the weather. I have the same now tv box plugged into digital Ariel, not the satellite in the bedroom when i compare the 2 freesat is better. hope this helps

If you have skyQ then the box needs to go back to day as you only rent this box

Depends what you like to watch , I keep sky for mainly sports sky go and movies but would never pay full price or take an offer less than 40% off, I cancel every year or now it 18months and then get a call back with offer , past years iv had mainly 40, 50% off and one year 60% off including phone and broadband.. now tv and amozon are good too , kodi debatable..

    Dave....I've not even looked.....
It was the sky engineer who told me last week when he was in fixing a broadband issue.

I was quite surprised when he told me that skyQ customers only rented the box.

Again, I haven't checked that out either....maybe he was talking through his 4r53

@RBH No you're right (or at least your engineer was). They're rented, and supposed to go back. Colleague at work has SkyQ and it's in his Ts & Cs.

From what I gather, as they're rented, Sky will no longer try and blackmail you into taking out expensive extended warranties with Domestic & General. The warranty of the SkyQ box is covered with the rental.
