    Default EML intermittent at ignition

Hi all, bought myself a 2006 signum elite 1.9cdti auto which I'm really pleased with apart from a couple of things!

The EML seems to come and go as it feels at ignition - not for a problem but it doesn't light up when you turn the key, for example (short video):

    Sometimes it's working:

I've noticed when the EML doesn't work, the spanner light comes on after ignition, and then will come and go as it pleases. Sometimes, when the EML has come on pre starting halfway through a journey the spanner light will also come on. The fault logged on the ECU is:

P0650 - Malfunction Indicator (MI) Control Circuit Open
    (04) - Not present

Clearing it stays clear until the EML doesn't come back on again and then that fault is logged again.

The cruise control buttons are also playing up slightly, sometimes the cruise control will work perfectly for miles, sometimes it'll take 2/3 times for it to set (it'll unset itself) and sometimes while you're going along it'll unset itself. CIM logs these faults, again clear while it's all working but after an instance they return:

B3794 - Switch Cruise Control Circuit Malfunction
    (08) - Not present

Are thes elikely to be related? I've read some info on here about cleaning the CC contacts which I haven't done yet but will attempt, what about the clocks, could that be related or is it a dry solder joint issue possibly?

    TIA!

The 'EML' light to which you refer is actually the emissions light and the spanner light is the 'EML'.
It confused me when I got my Astra Coupe as on my Vectra 'B' there was no spanner light and the little engine light was the EML, not sure why they changed it.

Just to update this, I took the clocks out and although the plug was secured in with the handle, it was wobbly in the connector. Wobbling the connector with the ignition on bought the EML light on and off so I've put a cable tie around the socket and plug on the bottom of the plug to hold it tight and it seems to solved both problems, both haven't reoccured in a week.

That light on the car isn't just for the emissions mate it comes on as soon as the ecu detects a fault code... i used to have it on when my power sounder kept going off... it just means go to the dealers garage for a readout asap to sort out the detected fault. in the end i found it was my rear window demister that had a few breaks in the lines.. after i repaired them (with a paint on repair kit) it turned it self off.. it also comes on if you you've worked on the car and forgotten to put a connector back that is in the engine mapping even the outside temperature sensor can turn that light on as i found out when i took off the front bumper and started the car to check where some of the weird noises were coming from...
