Anyone whose actually done the holes in the air box then - do you find it makes a noticeable difference to noise?

I've just added a stainless steel 4-2-1 manifold with integrated sports cat to my 1.8VVT, wasn't expecting a difference in noise as it still has the standard SRi exhaust system on but it now has quite a growl to it, it's addictive though so I fear my fuel consumption may suffer!

I guess getting a 2.5" exhaust made up will be best option. I wanted to go for but apparently they won't fit with the sri diffuser

Wouldn't think so,well id be careful how big you go for a 2.0T as you still need the gases to me moving fast and don't want them expanding and slowing down otherwise you'll loose performance. Unless its just noise you want.

If there's performance gains to be had I'd like that too. Wouldn't have thought 2.25 to 2.5 would be that much of an issue?

Of course it will, the air box reduces the noise, only did it on an old Vauxhall my first car, made a difference in sound.

I drilled my airbox as it was strangling the engine when giving it the beans, my engine was modified and tuned up by Maptun though.. I guess it gave it more noise, i had a stainless quad zorst system, still had the centre box though..
